MLGW News Release

MLGW underground electrical project will last through June 2019
October 15, 2018

Memphis Light Gas and Water has begun an underground Electrical Retrofit project that will affect some streets and cause occasional power outages in certain areas. The work will affect residents at three locations: Blacksmith Drive, Circle Road and Braden Drive which are located in the Northaven area.

Work will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the next six to eight months with a scheduled completion date of June 2019. These closures are necessary to improve the electrical service to these customers.

Roads will not be closed but there will be traffic congestion due to the construction work

Motorists are advised to avoid these areas or find an alternate route as there will be traffic interruptions.

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 431,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
