Find out if solar energy is right for you. See what programs are available and how to make the decision for installing solar by participating in “Shining Light on Solar Energy.” This one-hour virtual neighborhood training session starts Thursday, June 24, at 4 p.m.

The session is part of MLGW’s EmPOWERING Sustainable Neighborhoods series. The free series is open to all residents and will be held virtually on Zoom each quarter. Previously, MLGW held an annual all-day conference for neighborhood leaders.

Guests for the solar session include MLGW Strategic Marketing Coordinator Becky Williamson and TVA Senior Program Manager Lisa Haislip as well as a taped segment of homeowners who have installed solar panels.

Williamson will talk about available solar options, critical components of the decision-making process, expected installation costs, MLGW requirements and the application process.

Haislip will discuss TVA’s new residential Green Connect program, which features solar educational resources as well as a Quality Contractor Network of TVA-approved solar installers. MLGW expects to launch Green Connect in Shelby County later this year.
