Gas Odor in the Air at Brooks Road and Graves Road
September 8, 2020
Routine maintenance on September 9 to last one hour
MLGW will perform routine maintenance on a gas main in the area of Brooks Road and Graves Road on September 9, 2020. This planned work will require natural gas to be vented into the atmosphere in the area of 3071 Stonebrook Circle for one hour beginning at 8 a.m.
The public in the surrounding areas may smell mercaptan in the air. This is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to the natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.
Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses in various areas could smell this strong, sulfuric odor.
