Possible Gas Odor in the Air at Brooks Road and Graves Road

On September 23, 2020, MLGW will perform maintenance on a gas main in the area of Brooks Road and Graves Road. This planned work will require natural gas to be vented into the atmosphere for one hour beginning at 8 a.m.
The public in the surrounding areas may smell mercaptan in the air. This is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.
Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses could smell this strong, sulfuric odor.
