Pursuant to the 2020 MLGW Integrated Resource Plan, MLGW has released three separate Request for Proposals (RFPs) over the past two months. These RFPs and the products and services they are soliciting are:
1. Transmission RFP: specific transmission and substation facilities, as described in the 2020 IRP, to interconnect MLGW’s transmission system with MISO and import power to serve MLGW’s retail customers. Proposals are due in February 2022.
2. Thermal Generation RFP: specific thermal generation facilities, as described in the 2020 IRP recommended portfolios 6 and 9, that will be interconnected to MLGW’s transmission system and serve MLGW’s retail customers. Proposals are due in December 2021.
3. Renewables and Other Alternative Power Supply Resources RFP: seeking renewable resources as well as other alternative power supply resources that are available to serve MLGW. This RFP is soliciting five different products from qualified bidders: (1) up to 1,000 MW of local solar generation, (2) over 2,500 MW of MISO renewable resources, (3) non-renewable generation in MISO, (4) block energy purchases, and (5) both partial and full-requirements arrangements. The first two products are specific to the 2020 MLGW IRP recommended portfolios, while the remaining three products are intended to solicit bids representing a broad range of potential power supply options that are not specifically tied to the Integrated Resource Plan. Proposals are due in December 2021.
