MLGW to host church business seminar
October 23, 2008
(October 23, 2008) - Memphis Light, Gas and Water will present a church business conference in November. The Business of Being a Church Conference, a hands-on, educational seminar for ministers and administrative personnel at local churches, will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at MLGW's Training and Development Center at 4949 Raleigh-LaGrange Road. The 2008 conference theme is Ministering in the New Millennium.
The Business of Being a Church Conference, sponsored by MLGW for more than 10 years, will offer a variety of workshop topics ranging from preparing for an aging population, utility programs for seniors and helping congregants in tough economic times, to reaching youth and young adults, starting and maintaining a church dance ministry, understanding burial policies, a City of Memphis Human Services grant workshop and much more.
"The whole idea behind the conference is to provide faith leaders in Memphis and Shelby County with good, usable information they can share with congregants for their churches’ benefit," says Glen Thomas, MLGW Supervisor of Communications and Public Relations. "Church leaders and their congregations can then use that information to help build a stronger church and stronger community."
The Business of Being a Church Conference registration fee is $5 per person. The deadline to sign up is November 3, 2008. Lunch is included. For more information or to register for the conference, contact MLGW Community Relations at (901) 528-4322 or visit the Upcoming Events section of www.mlgw.com.
