The 2nd annual MLGW Race to CARE 5K Run/Walk will take place Saturday, Nov. 16 on the Chickasaw Trail at Shelby Farms Park. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m.; the race begins at 9 a.m.
Early registration is $20 and $25 after Oct. 31. Online registration can be completed at www.mlgw.com/racetocare. All race participants will receive a complimentary energy conservation kit from the Tennessee Valley Authority valued at $50.
Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division is sponsoring the race in partnership with the Metropolitan Inter-faith Association (MIFA).
The goal is to raise funds for pay for minor energy efficiency improvement projects conducted through Project CARE. Project CARE is designed to help MLGW elderly and/or disabled customers. Residents that qualify for the program receive emergency energy efficiency and conservation repairs to their home. In addition to repairs, customers will attend energy education workshops.
All donations to MIFA for the Race to CARE are tax deductible.
