January 10, 2020
Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division, in partnership with Neighborhood Christian Centers, is hosting a Senior Services Expo Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 9 a.m. – noon at Neighborhood Christian Centers, 785 Jackson Ave.

Customers can get information about healthcare and prescription assistance, details on mortgage, rent and utility assistance and much more. MLGW volunteers will also give away 100 space heaters and 100 electric blankets to qualifying customers.

To apply for the Power of Warmth program an applicant must be a Shelby County resident, disabled and/or a low-income senior (60 years old or older) with an MLGW account in their name. Applicants cannot have previously received a heater or blanket from MLGW. Customers can call the Neighborhood Christian Center hotline, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at 901 881-6013, ext. 674, for a pre-recorded message detailing the necessary qualifications and credentials for eligibility.

Applicants will need to bring:
  • An MLGW bill in their name.
  • A Tennessee State ID or Driver’s License to verify age and address.
  • Their most recent pay stub or social security income statement.
  • Disability documentation if applicable.

All customers are invited to attend the expo. Eligible customers will receive either a space heater or an electric blanket while supplies last.
