Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division customers can still schedule appointments for free pilot safety inspections between now and Oct. 1 by calling 820-7878 and choosing a convenient date and time. After Oct. 1, the inspections will cost $54, though the service will remain free for elderly customers (60 years and older) and the disabled.

MLGW’s Pilot Inspection Program runs through February 28, 2014. Appointments scheduled before and on October 1 are free.

Appointments scheduled between October 2 and December 31 will incur a $54 fee. The fee will be billed to your account and covers up to three gas heating appliances. Each additional appliance over three will incur an additional $17 fee.

To schedule an appointment, customers can call 820-7878 to choose a date and time convenient for them. MLGW’s Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) can also be used schedule an appointment; customers will need their 16-digit account number when using this system.

Appointments can be scheduled for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday for one of the following time slots:

• 8 a.m.– noon

• noon – 4 p.m.

• 4 p.m.– 8 p.m.

• Saturday appointments are either 8 a.m.– noon or noon– 4 p.m.
