MLGW wants local community activists to know how they can build stronger and more viable neighborhoods. Join in the last of a four-part series on EmPOWERING Sustainable Neighborhoods on October 28 at 4 p.m.
The webinar is open to all residents and will be held virtually on Zoom. Sign up at mlgwneighborhoods.eventbrite.com.
Guests include Britney Thornton who founded JUICE Orange Mound non-profit agency, Janet Boscarino, co-founder and executive director with Clean Memphis and Kate Kananura, special projects manager with the Center for Transforming Communities in Binghampton.
Both Thornton and Boscarino will tailor their discussion around blight. Thornton successfully turned blighted areas into gardens by bringing together generational support in Orange Mound. Boscarino will talk about a new mobile app that tackles litter and engages neighbors in making cleaner communities. Kananura will discuss how the Binghampton community is creating affordably priced owner-occupied homes for low to moderate-income families.
Hosted by MLGW’s Vice President of Community and External Affairs Gale Jones Carson, the webinar is Thursday, October 28 from 4 - 5 p.m.
MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 437,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
