Memphis Light, Gas and Water and District 3 Councilwoman Patrice Robinson invite utility customers and constituents to a Power Hour Community Meeting on Tuesday, August 29 at the Whitehaven Community Center, 4318 Graceland Dr. Doors open at 5 p.m. for customers who would like to speak to a Customer Service Advisor for help with accounts and billing; Power Hour begins at 6 p.m.
MLGW leadership will be on-hand at Power Hour to talk about customer care, delayed billing and the utility’s three-pronged approach to make the electrical system more reliable and resilient. “There’s been a challenge to put new infrastructure into new, growing areas,” says Doug McGowen, MLGW’s president and CEO. “Sometimes you don’t have enough funding to put back into older areas. That all changes now. We have the resources to do that.”
MLGW is making system-wide improvements like updating all substations, putting some overhead lines underground and replacing old infrastructure like power poles, power lines and transformers. Utility leaders will update customers on the status of infrastructure improvements at the August 29 Power Hour Community Meeting.
