Gas Odor in the Air near South Shelby Landfill (4569 East Holmes)

Routine maintenance to occur Monday, June 29 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
MLGW will be performing routine maintenance at the South Shelby Landfill (4569 East Holmes) on June 29. This work will begin around 7 a.m. and last for five hours.
Customers may smell mercaptan in the area of Holmes, east of Malone. This is the odorant that MLGW adds to natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.
Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses in various areas could smell this strong, sulfuric odor.
