Wednesday night storms affect nearly 40,000 customers
June 20, 2019
Fewer than 11,000 currently without power

(June 20, 2019, 6 p.m.) – Nearly 40,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County experienced outages as a result of a storm producing wind gusts up to 67 mph that moved through late Wednesday night. Significant damage was caused by trees falling into poles and wires across our service area.

Fewer than 11,000 customers are still without power.  Outages are widespread throughout Shelby County. This storm produced hundreds of individual outages which will take longer to restore. MLGW expects that power to ninety percent of customers impacted by the storm will be restored by midnight on Friday, June 21.

MLGW and contracted crews will be working around the clock to restore power. MLGW crews will work safely and quickly to restore services.
