N. Parkway and N. McLean gas main replacement ending
March 12, 2019
Memphis Light, Gas and Water is wrapping up a gas main replacement project that began in 2018. This week, gas construction and maintenance crews are working at
the intersection of N. Parkway and N. McLean. Work will affect the westbound lane of N. Parkway.
This ends the final phase of the cast iron replacement project at this location. MLGW began the project in July 2018. Crews replaced outdated, cast iron gas mains with polyethylene lines. Some cast iron pipes have been around since the 1930s and over the years have corroded and become more prone to leaks. The move to polyethylene means improved safety and reliability for utility customers.
