February 25 Restoration Update
February 25, 2011
(February 25, 2011) - MLGW crews continue to restore power this morning to customers affected
by last night's storm front that caused damage across the Mid-South.
Straight line winds accompanying the storm caused significant damage in
Shelby County, particularly in the Millington and Raleigh-Frayser areas.
About 35,000 MLGW customers lost power as a result. As of 8:30 a.m.,
MLGW has restored power to all but 5,300 customers. MLGW has called in
extra contract crews today to assist with the final stages of
restoration.
"We now have 5300 homes and businesses without power," according to MLGW President & CEO Jerry Collins Jr. "Our employees did a great job throughout the night restoring power. Progress will be slower over the next several hours as we begin working on smaller outages, but MLGW will continue to work around the clock until all customers are restored."
MLGW encourages any customers still without power to call the automated outage hotline at 544-6500. Those with emergencies such as downed power lines should call 528-4465.
