Over 39,000 customers affected by Thursday’s storm
(February 12, 2021, 5 p.m.) – Approximately 1,200 Memphis Light, Gas and Water customers are without power following widespread damage from Thursday’s ice storm. Eleven contract crews from middle and east Tennessee, 49 MLGW crews and 32 local tree trimming crews aim to restore ninety-five percent of customers who have been off since yesterday by midnight tonight.
Since midnight last night, we had an additional 15,494 customers affected by outages for a total of 39,078. (A large part of these may be due to cutting circuits off and on for safety purposes, but it represents how many customers experienced some type of outage.) All MLGW and contract crews are fully engaged in the restoration effort. The most significant outage of 643 customers (in the Southern and Haynes area) has an estimated restoration time of 8:30 p.m. Crews will continue to work quickly and safely until all customers are restored.
