MLGW Hosts Business Seminar for Service Organizations
November 2, 2011
(November 2, 2011) — Memphis Light, Gas and Water will present its annual Business of Service Conference, on Friday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at MLGW’s Joyce M. Blackmon Training and Development Center at 4949 Raleigh-LaGrange Road.

The Business of Service Conference is a hands-on, educational seminar for staff and volunteers coordinating activities at organizations serving the community. The 2011 theme is Addressing Poverty.

This year marks the 13th anniversary of the conference, which will offer a variety of workshop topics ranging working with ex-offenders to helping the homeless and from utility-cost cutting resources to fighting poverty with produce.

“This conference has been a staple of MLGW’s community outreach efforts, and our goal is to provide community leaders in Memphis and Shelby County with helpful, useful information they can share with their constituents,” says Glen Thomas, MLGW Supervisor of Communications and Public Relations.

The Business of Service Conference registration fee is $5 per person. The deadline to sign up is November 4, 2011. A continental breakfast and buffet lunch are included. For more information or to register for the conference, contact MLGW Community Relations at (901) 528-4322 or visit www.mlgw.com/serviceleaders. Individuals who register on-line may pay the registration fee on site the day of the conference.
