MLGW to perform routine gas maintenance
April 16, 2021
MLGW will be performing maintenance at the TVA Allen Combined Cycle Plant (2536 Hennington Avenue) on Monday, April 19 at 8 a.m.
This planned work will require natural gas to be vented into the atmosphere for one to four hours.
The public in the surrounding areas may smell mercaptan in the air. This is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to the natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.
Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses in various areas could smell this strong, sulfuric odor.
