Memphis Light, Gas and Water’s 117 electric repair crews, supported by 24 troubleshooters, 101 tree cutting crews, 48 damage assessment crews and hundreds of engineers, logisticians, system operators and other support personnel have restored power to 121,400 customers affected by the supercell thunderstorms on June 25 as well as the 35,000 customers affected by additional thunderstorms on July 2.
Severe storms, with wind gusts of up to 75 mph, moved through the area on June 25. This same system knocked out power to more than 130,000 customers in Arkansas and 300,000 in Georgia.
Another round of storms on July 2 caused 35,000 additional outages at the peak.
