Diana Veazey, Vice President of Construction and Maintenance for MLGW, has announced that she plans to retire from the utility early this summer with 30 years of service. Veazey had always considered retirement upon her daughter's graduation from college and, unfortunately for the utility, that time is at the end of June.
While Veazey states that she and her husband are looking forward to beginning the next chapter of their lives together, she currently has no career commitments and therefore, can be flexible in her actual retirement date if necessary to ensure the smooth transition of her successor.
Veazey joined MLGW in 1977 as an Auditor in Internal Audit and has since progressed into a number of positions including Rates Analyst; Accountant; Supervisor of Management Accounting; Manager of General Accounting; Manager of the Hickory Hill Service Center and Manager of the Brunswick Service Center. She began her service as Vice President of Construction and Maintenance in August, 2005.
Rick Masson, Interim President and CEO for MLGW, stated "Diana is a tremendously talented and well-liked individual and her 30 years of service is a testament to her loyalty to MLGW. She has shown dynamic leadership throughout the many changes occurring over the last three decades. We will miss her dearly, but we understand her desire to retire so that she can fulfill family commitments."
"I have had a wonderful career at MLGW, and will be forever grateful for the many opportunities that I have had to learn, to grow and to serve," Veazey said. "I'm not leaving the MLGW family - I'm just crossing over to the retiree side."
