Charlotte Knight Griffin named Interim General Counsel

Acting Memphis Light, Gas and Water President and CEO Rick Masson has named tenured MLGW attorney Charlotte Knight Griffin Interim Vice President and General Counsel. She has been with the utility for more than 29 years.
As General Counsel, Griffin is responsible for advising the MLGW Board and staff concerning all legal obligations and privileges, as well as performing other legal services for the Division. She also oversees the Purchasing, Contracting and Supplier Diversity Departments of MLGW.
Griffin was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1977. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court. She began at MLGW in 1978 as an Assistant Staff Attorney and later was responsible for all litigation at the utility. Most recently, she has served as Manager of Legal Services for MLGW, overseeing a staff of attorneys and support staff.
She is an active member of the Memphis Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Gas Association and the American Public Power Association.
MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 420,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County with some of the lowest combined rates in the U.S.
