WHAT:

Memphis Light, Gas and Water’s Supplier Diversity department hosts its 18th Annual Flame and Spark Awards, which acknowledges minority and women-owned business enterprises and locally-owned small businesses(MWBE/LSBs) and their successful working relationship with MLGW. MLGW will celebrate the companies and their contributions to MLGW and the Memphis community.

MLGW continues to make a large economic impact on the Memphis community through its Supplier Diversity programs. In 2015, MLGW recorded a 13 percent increase in spending with MWBE/LSBs totaling $47 million — or 37 percent of the utility’s $127 million spend for procurement. The 2016 total spend is on track to be even greater with more than $48 million recorded in just three quarters of the year.

Representatives from MLGW, suppliers and companies that have conducted business with MLGW in 2016. Several companies will be honored with Flame Awards for their outstanding working relationship and business growth.
