Early morning fire temporarily shuts down MLGW substation

MLGW crews are working to restore power to customers after an underground network fire that began in the early morning hours at Second and Gayoso Street. The network fire impacted several downtown businesses and residential areas and resulted in a substation being temporarily shut down.
The substation provides power to several major businesses downtown including, AutoZone, FedEx Forum, Civil Rights Museum and MLGW’s Administration Building.
All customers who are affected by this outage are expected to have power by noon today.
