TVA rescinds rolling black outs
December 23, 2022
All customers asked to voluntarily conserve energy
TVA has rescinded the Step 50 Emergency Load Curtailment requiring rolling black outs. However, the extreme cold temperatures and high demand across the TVA service territory have caused a critical power supply situation, and TVA is asking all electric power consumers to reduce their use of electricity as much as possible until further notice.
All electric power consumers – residential and industrial – are asked to cooperate in reducing power usage during this critical situation. Consumers should:
– Postpone using electric appliances such as dishwashers, dryers, and cooking equipment.
– Turn off non-essential lights, appliances, and other electrical equipment.
MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 440,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
