MLGW continues restoration efforts / Precautionary boil water advisory continues
December 24, 2022
(December 24, 2022 – 6:30 p.m.) At 5 p.m. Saturday, approx. 876 of Memphis Light, Gas and Water customers remain without power. Utility and tree trimming crews will continue working until service is restored to all customers.
75,000 Peak number of outages
35,000 – Total customers impacted by Thursday’s weather
226,000 – Total number of customers that lost power in rolling blackouts

A precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect for areas affected by a significant loss of water pressure. Affected areas are outlined in the maps below. Rolling blackouts have ceased for now. MLGW asks all commercial and residential customers to conserve energy and water until the power supply and demand are stable.

-Turn your thermostat down to 68°.

-Wear warm, layered clothes.

-Postpone doing laundry or running the dishwasher; do not run large appliances unless they are full.

-Turn off and unplug lights that are not needed.

Important information:
MLGW customers impacted by the precautionary boil water advisory should bring water to a vigorous boil, let it boil for three minutes, and then let it cool before consuming. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Tap water is safe for bathing and showering but try to avoid getting it in your mouth.
