Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division is prepared for severe weather as the remnants of Hurricane Ida head toward the Mid-South. The National Weather Service in Memphis forecasts three to six inches of rain, and damaging winds beginning at 3 p.m. into late evening.

MLGW crews will perform maintenance on a gas main at 4443 Millington Road (Millington/Overton Crossing). This planned work will require natural gas to be vented into the atmosphere. This routine work will occur on Monday, August 16, 2021 around 7 a.m. and last for two hours.

Beginning today, two, right, northbound lanes of traffic on Germantown Parkway from Ikea Way to Country Rock Lane will be blocked from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. for a Memphis Light, Gas and Water project. The lanes will be blocked off daily until further notice.

Work to take place on July 10 and July 17
MLGW crews will perform underground work at the intersection of North B.B. King Boulevard and Washington Avenue on July 10 and July 17 requiring temporary lane closures.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) Monday, July 12 in its search for power supply alternatives. The RFP is for electrical transmission options. Two more RFP’s, a thermal generation option, and a renewable and other option, will be released at a future date.
Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division offices will be closed Monday, July 5, 2021 in observance of Independence Day. Normal business operations will resume Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
